After graduating in medicine from University College Dublin, Ireland, Dr. Hogan undertook a period of further study leading to a Masters degree in Physiology, before committing to clinical medicine and specializing in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine. He completed specialist training of the College of Anesthesia in Ireland, concurrently graduating with a Masters of Business Administration from University College Dublin, before specializing further in cardiac anaesthesia and intensive care. He has worked at Leipzig Heart Centre, Germany, and Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, UK, before moving to his current post at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Initially joining as a cardiac anaesthetist, he is now also head of cardiac ICU. He has won research grants and published original research relating mainly to cardiothoracic surgery and anaesthesia. He is also a member of the echocardiography subcommittee of the European Society of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia.
